Launch of 'Ring around the Moon' - an anthology of poems and short stories by writers in and near Longford Co. Longford Ireland including me.
'Ring around the Moon' is the title of the latest anthology of Longford writing to be published by the Longford County Arts Office. The poetry and prose contained in the collection represents the work of the participants in the 2014 Creative Writing Mentoring Programme which was organised in the early part of the year by Longford County Arts Office.
The poetry programme was facilitated by the popular Longford poet Noel Monahan and the prose programme was facilitated by the up-and-coming Longford prose writer Alan McMonagle. Noel and Alan also co-edited the collection.
The collection title – Ring around the Moon – was suggested by the Granard Writers Group poet Breda Sullivan, out of a huge number of suggested titles by the course participants and the design of the collection cover was also decided by a competition among Longford artists so that every element of this exciting collection of Longford writing is be the product of Longfords creative talents.
It is appropriate that the book’s launch will be Longfords contribution to National Poetry Day.

'Dream Catcher Workshop with http://www.aislingfestival.ie/ followed by Book Reading by local author Eileen Moynihan, Saturday 2nd August from 2pm, Earl Street.
This event is suited to children aged 4 to 10 years. It is a drop in workshop, younger children will need to be accompanied by an adult if workshop is very busy as they may require help.
The Aisling Children’s Arts Festival was founded in 1998 and its aim was to provide an annual multi disciplinary week long arts festival totally dedicated to children and young people in County Longford. The ethos of the festival is to nurture and develop an artistic appreciation among young people by introducing them to a wide range of arts disciplines such as drama, music, dance and the visual arts through the medium of workshops and performances. The festival is still run by a committee of local volunteers and is dependent on funding from grant agencies and local businesses.'
Both of my books are available In Co. Longford libraries. I am very grateful for Longford libraries for their ongoing support, and I was delighted to read my books at their 'Summer Buzz' festival.

I am pleased to announce the birth of Childhood Books, and like any new parent I'm proud and happy to share my joy with the world. My hedgehog logo was inspired by my hedgehog hero Rory Gumboots. The name Childhood books came from the idea that childhood is a wonderful time where we often meet childhood books that become best friends, and will always be recalled fondly in later life. Childhood should be a magical imaginative time, and I hope my books help bring that to readers or listeners of my stories.
